How To Use Craftsman Smart Lawn App

COMPATIBILITY NOTICE: This app works directly with select Craftsman Riding Mower and Zero Turn radius mower models 247.20400, 247.20410, 917.27390, 917.27394, 247.27038, 247.27042, 247.27042, 247.27044, 247.27039, 27055, 247.27048, 247.27047, 917.27778, 917.27773, 917.27771, 917.27779, 247.27050, 247.27052, 247.27054 (Model number label found under the seat or on select Zero Turn radius models on the left side of the frame).

If the riding mower or zero turn radius mower is not already equipped with Smart lawn technology, the Craftsman Smart Lawn Connect Kit 25200 is required. Connect Kit sold separately wherever Craftsman riding mowers or zero turn radius mowers are sold. Works with most Craftsman Riding Mowers (including Zero Turn models) manufactured from 2010 to present when equipped with a Craftsman Smart Lawn Connect Kit (Item No. 25200). Exclusions noted below:

CRAFTSMAN SMART LAWN talks directly to your mower using Bluetooth technology. It provides up-to-date information about your mower's battery, blades, air filter and engine oil, then notifies you whenever something needs attention, making maintenance simple. Smart Lawn provides you model-specific owner's manuals and engine operating manuals viewable in the app.

The app's Periodic Maintenance section provides tips and instructions on servicing your mower after every 10, 25, 50 and 100 hours of use — plus at the beginning and end of mowing season.

App is useless

Every time I log in, the app displays a different number of operating hours. This makes the maintenance reminders based on them, useless. The number of days since last mow always says zero. The maintenance records show that I've changed my oil pretty much every day starting a few years before I'd even purchased my mower. Twice, the app has shown other people's information. Once, it was Shaun's mower, now it's Fred's mini mower and I t shows one hour of operating time so my maintenance hours have all been reset to zero. I've logged in and out several times but my mower profile seems to be gone. This is frustrating because this app and the wi-fi feature was a major selling point resulting in me purchasing this mower. The app provides no useful, (or even correct), information whatsoever and should be removed from descriptions touting it as a feature of craftsman mowers.

Forget this app! Well, maybe not...

UPDATE: A week after my original review, I was able to fully connect the app with my mower. It now functions as advertised. For someone who generally takes good care of their equipment anyway, the app doesn't provide much benefit. If you need the reminders, it's a nifty gadget. I'm raising my rating from 1 to 3 stars.
Original review: Ipurchased a Pro Series 8400 garden tractor for my 2-1/2 acre lawn. It was advertised as having the smart app capability which was a big selling point to me because I'm a little anal about keeping my equipment maintained. I downloaded the app and tried to set it up but couldn't get past the login. It gave an error message saying the account was in password reset mode. When I tried to reset the password, it gave a message saying an email was being sent with instructions to reset it. I'm STILL waiting on that email.

App doesn't work

After many attempts over many weeks I finally got the app to open ONE time. Got the tractor model & serial number loaded in the app, started the tractor and sync'ed up via bluetooth info. Now the app opens, asks to allow notifications and promptly goes to the background. I double click the phone, tap the app that is still showing as running, get the initial red screen, get the window that asks to allow notifications and then the app goes to the back ground.....over an over. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, booted and rebooted, and googled for help with no luck. This app is garbage and should have never progressed from the internal testing phase. To be such a big selling point at purchase time, this app falls woefully short of expectations. I would love to speak with anyone who supports this software.
